Meet: Birch Creek Farm and the two friends who farm this land day in and day out, John and Greg! Both working full-time when they started Birch Creek Farm, the dream of farming this land and feeding their community was one they couldn’t ignore! Even now, one of the friends still works a day job but that doesn’t stop him from working the farm before his shift starts and until the sun goes down – each and every day.
Farming is no small feat – every part of the process is demanding and unexpected things always seem to happen. From voracious pests to incredible heat waves, farmers must do what is nearly impossible – beat all the odds. At Birch Creek Farms, these two farmers continue to do just that! With rows upon rows of gorgeous tomatoes held up in tomato cages and stretching as far as the eye can see, stunning sweet peppers flashing yellow and red, and cucumbers covering trellises with their greenery, this farm is a sight to behold.
Every single crop is harvested by hand by these two farmers with support from their family and friends when they’re able. A true labor of love, from this vibrant and bountiful farm comes tomatoes, sweet peppers, eggplant, and more. Available fresh off the farm in our Produce Department during the local produce season each year, we love to watch this farm grow!
What started out as the simple love for gardening 20 years ago turned into this incredible farm with locally grown produce as far as the eye can see.
We love going out into the field and introducing you personally to these incredible farmers that make our dream of staying as local as possible a reality. No matter the weather, no matter what, farmers show up in their fields every day to bring the best product to you.
Often unheard and unseen, the farmer puts food on our table every day.
